Selling alcohol online through your MOBI storefront can be a great way to increase your revenue. Of course the usual restrictions apply according to your restaurant's liquor licence and any other requirements stipulated by your region. MOBI will not be held responsible for any breaches in the restaurant's liquor licence.
MOBI has recently improved the way our age gate works. See below for the latest customer experience and set up.
Implementation of an age gate on your storefront
You are always encouraged to check for identification to ensure the customer is of legal drinking age when they pick up their order, or when it is delivered to them.
MOBI can also implement an age gate, which stops people from ordering alcohol if they are underage.
Customer experience
If a customer adds an alcoholic item to their cart, when they go to checkout we will ask for their date of birth to confirm they are of legal drinking age.
- If the customer is old enough, the customer will be able to continue with checkout. If they go back to add any other alcoholic items to their cart, they won't be asked again.
- If the customer is underage, the customer will be stopped and prompted to remove the alcoholic items from their cart before proceeding to checkout. Clicking the "remove items" button will remove them automatically.

How to set it up
The age that the storefront checks for is configured in our MOBI backend, per location. This can be set up during implementation, or by the MOBI Support team, so please contact support@mobihq.com with your request. We will need the following:
- All items in your menu containing alcohol will need to have the menu tag alcohol added to them. You can send us your list of items, or if you're confident managing your own menu, you can add those yourself.
- You'll need to tell us the legal drinking age for your store. If we're setting this up for many locations in your headoffice, please include a list grouping together the locations that have the same legal drinking age.
NOTE: This needs to be set up for each new location that is created, so be sure to inform your MOBI representative of the drinking age for this location.
