What is a Burst?
A Burst is a powerful on-screen message designed to help you promote, inform, or engage your customers while they browse your storefront. Think of it as a popup that interrupts the browsing flow just enough to grab attention—and drive immediate action.

Unlike external channels (like email or SMS), Bursts let you communicate in the moment while customers are shopping—making them hard to miss.
How Bursts Work
When you configure a Burst, it will appear on the storefront screen after a set delay (for example, 6 seconds). Bursts will cover most of the screen.
Customers can then:

Dismiss the Burst by tapping outside the box or selecting “Dismiss”

Engage by tapping the action you’ve configured.
Note: Bursts don’t disappear automatically—they remain visible until the customer acts.

You can configure Bursts to drive the same types of actions as Banners or Advanced Flash Promotions, such as:

View a product or category

Go to the Loyalty page

Add a product to cart

Customisation Options

Platforms: Choose where your Burst displays—Desktop, Mobile Web, iOS App, Android App, Table ordering, Skip-the-Queue

Delay: Decide when the Burst shows. We recommend ~6 seconds after the customer lands, to balance visibility and engagement but not disrupting the flow too late.

Frequency: Select how often it shows:

Creative Use Cases
Bursts are versatile and can support a wide range of brand goals. For example, you can use them to:

How Bursts Differ From Other Features
Bursts work similarly to Banners and Flash Promotions, but with one key difference:

Bursts interrupt the browsing flow—customers can’t easily ignore them.

They are platform-specific, giving you precise control over where they appear.
Because they are more disruptive than banners, we recommend using Bursts strategically rather than keeping them active all the time.
Setting Up a Burst

Log in to your Head Office admin. Navigation to Promotions> Bursts in the left-hand navigation, or follow your URL like this: https://www.mobi2go.com/admin/headoffice/[HO_ID]/settings/bursts

Complete the setup steps. Images can be uploaded from your Image Manager. Note: the image should be a square, and <2MB.

Customise button text via the language override system, if desired.
FAQs
How many Bursts can be active at once?
Only one Burst will display at a time. If multiple are configured, the earliest one will show.
Can I control which page a Burst appears on?
No, Bursts will show after the delay you set, regardless of which page the customer is viewing.
Can I target Bursts to specific customers?
Not yet. Bursts display for all customers, including guests.
If a guest chooses “once per customer”, will they still see the Burst again?

If they’re using the same device, they won’t see it again.

If they switch devices, they may see the Burst again.

For logged-in customers, the system tracks them across devices.
Can Bursts be used only for in-venue orders (like Order@Table)?
Yes! Simply select the Table Ordering trigger when setting up your Burst.
✅ Tip: Use Bursts sparingly to maximise impact. For everyday promotions, Banners or Flash Promotions may be less disruptive.
